अभिनेत्री स्पृहा जोशी 1 मे रोजी श्रमदानासाठी जाणार आहे. ती गेल्यावर्षीच्या अनुभवाविषयी सांगते, “मुंबई-पुण्यातल्या सुखासीन आयुष्याच्या बाहेर भयावह परिस्थितीत पाण्यासाठी वणवण करणा-या लोकांची आयुष्य पाणी फाउंडेशनच्या मोहिमेमूळे मला पाहायला मिळाली. पाणी फाउंडेशनसोबत, दुष्काळाशी दोन हात करताना, इंडिया भारतात परतल्याचा सुखद अनुभव मिळतो.”

The eighth and final season of the fantasy web series ‘Game of Thrones‘, was premiered recently. We are all aware that there are many admirers of this series, which has also popularized in India. On many occasions while watching it, I planned my own choreography to dance on this theme song ‘The Break of reality’ and then it came to my mind to present the cover of my contemporary Bharat Natyam series video based on this theme song and I did it.”

An official announcement to this effect was made yesterday during the music and trailer release of this film. Veteran popular actress and chief of Akhil Bharatiya Chitrapat Mahamandal Varsha Usgaonkar was the chief guest on this occasion to release the music and trailer of ‘Ek Hota Pani’.

This film which has a strong social message for all white collar people has four songs which are very relevant to the theme of this film, which deals with the importance of water. The songs are rendered by popular singers like Anandi Joshi, Hrishikesh Ranade, Rohit Raut, Mrunmayee Dadke Patil and Vikas Joshi on the music of Vikas Joshi. ‘Ek Hota Pani’ has already invited all the attention during various film festivals, finding nominations and awards and therefore has created a lot of interest among the Marathi film lovers.

Sadashiv Amrapurkar was a renowned actor from Bollywood and Marathi film industry. After his sad demise few years ago, his younger daughter Reema had been active with film making. But now, the other two members of his family have also got involved into Marathi film industry. His wife Sunanda Amrapurkar will now be presenting a Marathi film ‘Purushottam’ which will be released a day before the birth anniversary of Late Sadashiv Amrapurkar‘s birth anniversary ,i.e. on 10th May all over Maharashtra.

Highlight of this film is that Amrapurkar’s elder daughter Ketaki will be making her acting debut through this film, which his directed by her younger sister Reema Amrapurkar. Recently, the poster of this film was launched on social networking sites. Besides Ketaki, the film also stars Nandu Madhav in lead role along with Kishore Kadam, Devika Daftardar, & Pooja Pawar.
We are already aware of the contribution of actress Sai Tamhankar for social cause. She has been very active with ‘Pani Foundation’ to create awareness about water conservation by finding time for the same. Recently, Sai posted a video on social media to make an appeal to them to come forward for voluntary contribution of labour on the occasion of World Earth day. Sai herself will be involved with this activity on 1st May 2019.

It may be recalled that for the past five years Sai has been actively involved with Pani Foundation programmes. Besides voluntarily contributing labour on this day every year, she has also been attending their other awareness programmes regularly. Speaking about her involvement in this activity, Sai says, “It is really sad to find the animals struggling to search water and at the same time it is more disturbing to find the women walking long distance to fetch water for their little children in drought affected areas. From my side I will be doing a bit through voluntary contribution of labour and I expect you all to join this movement.”
Pratiksha Mungekar who plays a negative character of Kiyara in the popular ongoing TV serial ‘Ghadge & Suun‘ will now be seen in the lead role opposite Amol Kagne in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Babo’ directed by Ramesh Baburao Choudhari. While Pratiksha has already done two films ‘Vida Ek Sangharsh‘ and ‘Matang‘, Amol has been the presenter of sensible Marathi films like ‘Halaal‘,’Lathe Joshi‘ and ‘Perfume‘.

Politics has always been a favourite subject of Marathi films since the time ‘Saamana‘ was released in the 70s. Directed by Jabbar Patel the film skilfully dramatized the conflict of wills between a small-town political racketeer and a morally upright schoolteacher. It had talked shown the power of sugar co-operatives of Maharashtra. Then in 1998, we saw ‘Sarkarnama‘ directed by Shrabani Deodhar on two political rivals. Both ‘Saamana‘ and ‘Sarkarnama‘ became famous for the powerful performances of Dr. Shreeram Lagoo & Nilu Phule (Saamana) & Dilip Prabhavalkar and Yashwant Dutt (Sarkarnama).
Rinku Rajguru, Shubhankar Tawde, Shashank Shende, Suhas Palshikar Marathi movie ‘Kaagar’
Now, writer-director Viju Mane has presented his latest Marathi film ‘Kaagar‘ on the backdrop of a small town Virainagar in Maharashtra, where we find a middle-aged school teacher, with higher connections trying to gain power through his choice of candidate. How he finally succeeds in getting his own young daughter into this political fight for survival, is what the film is all about. To succeed in his mission, Guruji (Shashank Shende) entrusts the most difficult job to his trusted so-called left hand Yuvraj (Shubhankar Tawde) a software Engineer from his small town. Yuvraj agrees to do anything for Guruji, as he trusts him and is also madly in love with his young college going daughter Rani(Rinku Rajguru).

As the sequence of events unfolds, Yuvraj- Rani love story takes a back seat and we find Guruji showing his true colours like a typical filmy villain to fulfill his dream. The film fails to present a strong conflict, due to limited content and lack of well-planned screenplay. As a result, this film has turned out to be neither a well-built love story nor an action-filled political thriller. Though Shashank Shende finds a lead role of a Guruji turned politician, he does not perfectly fit into that kind of canny character. Suhas Palshikar has also been wasted in that limited character of Guruji’s political rival from the same party. His character should have been stronger to show the conflict. Instead, more attention has been paid to Guruji’s changing political games, according to time. Except for one background song, the other song a Qawwali does not go well with the screenplay. Moreover, in the absence of renowned actors, the film fails to capture the attention of the audience.
If the filmmakers thought that using the card of Rinku Rajguru, they would invite all the attention towards the film, their assumption has gone wrong. As an actress, she has been typecast with the same style of dialogue delivery and her typical expressions noticed in ‘Sairat‘. Perhaps, she has her own limitations. In the role of Yuvraj, Shubhankar Tawde is fine but here once again, the protagonist in his character hasn’t been exploited much. In the supporting cast, Vitthal Kale as Bhavdya, Shantanu Gangane as Bhaiyasaaheb and Umesh Jagtap as Police inspector Nikam have offered good support. The work done by location sound recordist and sound engineer has been worth appreciating. All in all, there is something really missing from this love story set with a political backdrop.
