We are all aware that based on renowned playwright George Bernanrd Shaw’s ‘Pygmilion’ an English musical film ‘My Fair Lady’ was made in 1964. We also saw a Marathi drama ‘Ti Phulrani’ starring Bhakti Barve and Satish Dubhashi in 70s. And now, director Vishwas Joshi will be presenting a film ‘Phulrani’ for Marathi film lovers. Vishwas has written the script along with Guru Thakur for this film which is inspired by ‘Pygmilion’.

Though the names of the star cast hasn’t been revealed, the director is confident that the subject of his film would appeal to Marathi film lovers. The name of the film has been inspired by Famous poet Balkavi’s poem ‘Phulrani’. And this poem will be reconstructed by Nilesh Moharir for this film. Fincraft Media and Entertainment who will be presenting this film propose to start the shooting of this film by end of this year and plan to release the film in 2021. Earlier Vishwas Joshi had presented the films like ‘Natasamrat‘, ‘What’s app Lagna’ and ‘Ghe Double’ which is ready for release.

At a time with certain restrictions on shootings of films, Marathi film industry seems to have taken up the challenge. Yoodle Films who are making a film ‘Zombivali’ presented by SaRe Ga Ma is being directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, who had earlier directed successful films like ‘Classmates’, ‘Mauli’ and ‘Faster Fene’. Recently, the muhurat of this film was performed with its first poster launch. ‘Zombivli’ which connects with Dombivali known for its Zombie connection, will be a Zom Com film.

So, the film promises Horror Comedy , which is new to Marathi cinema. Shooting of this film will soon begin at Latur and the film stars Youths like Amey Wagh, Lalit Prabhakar and Vaidehi Parshurami in lead roles. The film be targeted on youth viewers. With Lawrence D’Cunha as DOPthe music will be composed by AV Praful Chandra. Sainath Gunwad, Siddhesh Purkar, Mahesh Iyer, Yogesh Joshi have written the story of this film. The makers of this film plan to release this film next year i.e. 2021.

During the past few months due to lockdown restrictions , no new Marathi TV serials could be released on small screen. At the same time no Marathi film could see its release in theatres, due to their closure. Though some Hindi films and Web series were released on OTT platforms, we haven’t seen much Marathi content during this period on OTT platform. The reason is simple. Actually, Marathi content didn’t have their own platform and had to depend on others.

But now, Planet Marathi is all set to offer bagful of entertainment through their own OTT platform with 10 new web series and 850 hours of entertainment for little children. The 10 web series will present top directors and artistes. Moreover, in near future more and more Marathi content will be arranged in the form of web series and shot films. Popular Marathi singer Savaniee Ravindrra who has rendered songs in other six languages besides Marathi, recently presented her ‘Vande Ganapatim’ song in Sanskrit, has received overwhelming response from music lovers. Savanee who has graduated with Sanskrit specialisation, was already looking for an opportunity to sing in Sanskrit language and her wish has been fulfilled through this song.

According to Savanee, this bandish which has Hindustani classical music touch was originally rendered by my mother’s Guru Veena Sahasrabudhe. “Since my childhood days, I have been attracted towards this composition of Pt. Kashinath Bodas. Now, my friend R.Sanjay has given this bandish a touch of Karnataki classical touch to present this lovely devotional song. I am glad that the music lovers have liked it.”  says Savanee.

We are all aware of the importance of ‘lullaby’ during the era of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Those days, all Mothers used to sing ‘lullaby’ for their little babies, to encourage them to be part of the force fighting for self government of Independent India. Do Re – Do productions have produced one such video of ‘lullaby’ to take us all down memory lane into the history. The inspiration has obviously come from the Rajamata Jijaoo and the way she encouraged her son Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to fight for self government.

In this lullaby actress Prajakta Mali plays the inspiring and strict mother , on whom this lullaby has been pictured, while her little son is played by Harak Bharatiya. This period lullaby has been written and directed by Anagha Kakade, while Nupura Niphadkar has rendered this lullaby in her voice, besides composing music.
