Well known Creative head and Editing expert of Bollywood films, Ajay Thakur, known for his work in films ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ and ‘Guzarish’;  recently announced his Marathi film ‘Raavas’. This will also be a female oriented comedy film, set on the backdrop of fishermen community and a mermaid.

The film will be directed by Milind Kawade and will go on the floors in January 2016. The story of the film is written by Ajay Thakur himself and will be produced by Vandana Thakur, under the banner of Spice Stdio and entertainment. According to Ajay, it has taken a long time for him, to finalize the story of this film and now, very soon he will also announce the cast of the film. There are already rumours that Ketaki Mategaonkar may play the mermaid in this film. But, there is no official announcement about the same.

Madhuri Dixit, Tejashree Pradhan

Television commercials are also watched by the home viewers, with keen interest, during the break of the popular serials, provided there are popular models endorsing the product. In the recent past, we have been observing many commercial ads, with our Marathi artistes promoting the consumer products. Ankush Choudhary, Pankaj Vishnu, Sachit Patil, Girija Oak Godbole are regularly seen in many commercial ads. Recently, we also saw two actresses from ‘Dil Dosti Duniyadari’ serial, advertising for a consumer product.

But, the home viewers were surprised during the week,  when Tejashree Pradhan, who plays the popular character of  Janhavi in ‘Honar Suun Mi Hya Gharchi’, was seen advertising for a dish washer bar, along with another Marathi actor Adinath Kothare. Incidentally, she has replaced popular bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit, who was earlier advertising for the same product. So, it is almost like ‘Madhuri Out, Tejashree In’ to impress the Marathi audience.

The inclusion of  more and more Marathi film and television artistes to endorse commercial products, has clearly indicated that their presence on screen, can make a big difference, to market a product. It is mainly because, the Marathi viewers closely relate themselves with actresses like Tejashree, Girija or Swanandi, rather than Bollywood actress like Madhuri, who is not considered as Marathi actress, by viewers in Maharashtra. Madhuri should therefore think seriously, about her Marathi image and accept some offers on Marathi television or films, be it, anchoring of  a show, or acting in a Marathi film.

In the coming week, from 2^nd November, Colors Marathi will present new comedy show of Bharat Jadhav, at prime time. Earlier, we were not aware of the other performers in this show; but, now it has been revealed that Kranti Redkar will also be part of this show, along with few other popular television artistes. However, it remains to be seen, whether Bharat Jadhav  will succeed  in pulling the viewers to his show. One thing is sure that Bharat’s mere presence will not work. The script of this show and its presentation will play an important role. By the way, Colors is a also gearing up to present their new serial ‘Ganapati Bappa Morya’, perhaps to compete with other period serials based on mythology.

During the week, we noticed complete dominance of negative characters in most of the Marathi TV serials. Janhavi’s mother in ‘Honar Suun Mi Hya Gharchi’, Mothi Aai in ‘Runji’, Neel’s mother in ‘Nanda Saukhyabhare’, ‘Jui’s sister in ‘Asa Sasar Surekh bai’ were  given more than required importance, in every episode. And,  there was  lot of overacting, noticed by the artistes, performing these roles. On some occasions, they  were simply irritating. In the process, the presence of lead artistes the these serial is totally ignored. Hope, it doesn’t go against the serial, as popularity of the serial is always based on positive thinking, as noticed  in some of the serials like Asmita’, ‘Duniyadari’ or the  laughter shows, which are purely entertaining.

Late Sadashiv Amarapurkar

On the occasion of 1st death anniversary of late Sadashiv Amrapurkar, his family members and well wishers have come forward to launch a foundation in his memory, which will be called ‘Sadashiv Amrapurkar Foundation’. Dr. Anand Nadkarni, who was present on the occasion, said that it was a perfect tribute to the actor , who always found time, for his social commitments.

Reema Amrapurkar, daughter of late Sadashiv Amrapurkar has also said that the purpose of forming this foundation is to create a platform for the talent from rural areas . Mr. Rajabhau Amrapurkar will be the chief trustee of this foundation, while the other members of the trust are Sunanda Amrapurkar and Dr. Anil Avachat.

After winning the Director’s Vision award at the German Star of India 2015 Film festival, Marathi film ‘The Silence’ is all set to create a buzz in Brazil. Presented by SMR productions and directed by Gajendra Ahire, the film has found its entry for Brazilia International Film festival, which is scheduled between 6th and 15th November 2015. ‘The Silence’ is the first Indian film, to find its entry into this film festival, which has entries from countries like Mexico, Prague,Germany, Bulgaria,Cuba & Argentina.   The film is already in news in India, for its different story, which speaks against the rising violence against young girls.

The film stars Nagraj Manjule and Kadambari Kadam in lead roles, along with well known actress from Hindi Anjali Patil, Raghuveer Yadav, a versatile Bollywood actor and two new faces Mugdha Chaphekar & Vedashree Mahajan.  The music of this film is managed by Indian Ocean Rock band group, while cinematography is by Krishna Sorren.

Aabhalmaya

‘Aabhalmaya’ was one such serial on Marathi television, which won the hearts of all age groups, 16 years ago. Recently, the team members of this serial came together, to celebrate their happy memories. All those who were present, remembered late Vinay Apte , who had directed this serial. Mr. Achyut Vaze the producer of this serial, who had designed the concept, briefed the future plans of his production house ‘One Tree Media’ , which was expanding into other fields of entertainment, including films.

Many child artists of this serial have today matured, performing variety of roles . And, Pari Telang is one of them. Even otherwise, this serial has offered many talented artists to Marathi entertainment industry, who have become versatile actors. Mr. Vaze also stated that there was a big demand from the home viewers to revive the subject of ‘Aabhalmaya’, as they felt very much attached to the characters and their close association with each other. So, can we expect ‘Aabhalmaya 2’ or cinematic version of ‘Aabhalmaya’ ?

For every talented artiste, initial stage experience helps to creatively understand self, so as to implement the role of a writer. For the past seven months, budding actress Komal Khamkar has been attending seven different workshops, facilitated by well known Theatre personality Manjul Bharadwaj, through his Experimental Theatre Foundation. Prior to this, Komal had done one act plays, skits, street plays and even two commercial plays, ‘ Eka Ratrichi Bai’ and ‘ Nishani Dava Angtha’ since 2013.

‘Marathi Movie World’ met this talented actress, during her stage show ‘Anhad Naad – Unheard Sounds of Universe’ at Shivaji Mandir recently. She had performed in this multilingual play, exceptionally well, along with her other group members. Incidentally, Komal has also made her debut on television, through popular Marathi serial ‘Honar Suun Mi Hya Gharchi’ which is being aired on Zee Marathi. Komal has stepped in, playing an interesting character of Sunita, whom Pintya ( Janhavi’s brother) wants to marry. Right from her entry into this serial, Komal has impressed all the viewers, with her remarkable performance.

When we were talking to Komal, she was more eager to speak about her association with Manjul Sir’s theatre group. “Experimental Theatre Foundation has helped me a lot, to explore myself as an artiste. Though I am doing this serial now, I still find time for the shows of ‘Anhaad Naad’ on week end”, she said proudly.

Komal , who has done her schooling from D. A. V. Public School , Nerul, Navi Mumbai and graduation from S.N.D.T. Women’s University , Mumbai; was introduced to this theatre group, in March this year, by her close friend Ashwini Nandedkar , an international artistic and a professional performer. “Ashwini is more than a friend to me. We are soul mates. I am really thankful to her, as this course has helped me immensely, to understand my inner self. And, this play ‘Anhad Naad’ has given me the freedom of performing my art in a creative and spiritual way, besides breaking all the restrictions that obstructs an actor, to be a performer. In short, it’s a pure art form,” she added.

Therefore, while performing the role of Sunita, in the popular serial, she looks more confident, in the presence of versatile artistes. When asked, as to how she prepared herself for that particular accent used by Sunita’s character, Komal said that it wasn’t much difficult, as her native place being Raigad, she was used to this style of language. Now, Home viewers are eager to see, how she tackles the character of a demanding lady Shashikala, played by Aasha Shelar, after her marriage to Pintya. But, after watching her performance on stage, we are sure that she is capable of inviting all the attention of the audience, in days to come.

Ambrish Darak, Abhijeet Khandkekar and Mrunmayee Deshpande

Well Known Marathi stage TV and Film actress Mrunmayee Deshpande will turn director of two film projects. The announcement was made during the first look of Mrunmayee’s forthcoming film ‘Anuraag’, which is being presented by her, besides acting in this film. This film is directed by renowned Eye Surgeon Dr.Ambarish Darak and Mrunmayee has already taken lessons of direction in this film, under the leadership of Dr. Darak and well known cinematographer Suresh Deshmane, who is the technical director of this film.

Shot at beautiful locations of Leh –Ladakh, 18,500 feet above sea level; the film stars Mrunmayee along with Dharmendra Gohil( ‘Aga Bai Arechha’ fame). The film is scheduled for release on 21^st January 2016. But, more than this film, everybody was eager to know about the special announcement to be made on the occasion. And, Show anchor Abhijeet Khandkekar invited Mrunmayee to reveal the secret. The first film to be directed by her will be ‘Athrava  Unta’ and the name of the other film also to be directed by her , will be announced during an event, to be held shortly. So, ‘Mrunmayee Deshpande Creations‘, will be a new banner, which will be watched with keen interest in days to come.

Over the years, Marathi dramas have played a very important role in the lives of many prominent artistes from Maharashtra. And, therefore, Marathi Rangabhoomi Din, also has a special significance. 5th November is celebrated as Marathi Rangabhoomi Din, making all of us realize the efforts put in by all the former artistes, to get recognition to this finest performing art. During the olden days, music based plays gained a lot of importance, as the characters used music based songs to communicate with each other. It may be recalled that in 1943, Vishnudas Bhave’s musical drama ‘Sita Swayamvar’ was first performed on stage, making it a historic moment for many drama lovers. 172 years have passed since then and today, Marathi stage has reached a stage, where many shows of popular plays, drawing house full audience, who are willing to pay Rs.300/- per ticket.

Today, we also find many old dramas being revived. Some of the popular plays of yesteryear’s, like ‘Katyar Kaljaat Ghusali’ and ‘Natasamraat’ are given cinematic look, with big stars in Marathi, part of these films. Some of the plays are also getting invitation from places like UK and USA, to perform there. And, that’s a big achievement. Well known poet and playwright William Shakespeare has lot of influence on some of the Marathi playwrights and the Marathi theatre audience have welcomed their ideas of presenting such subjects in Marathi, very efficiently, without losing the Marathi touch in the presentation.

On the occasion of Marathi Rangabhoomi Din, Marathi Movie World pays sincere tributes to all those great actors and presenters, who have kept Marathi Rangabhoomi live till date. And, we are sure, The show will go on , for many more years.

Teaser Look of Marathi film ‘Guru’

Past happenings of Marathi films released during past  5 to 6 years, show that films released during the first month of the new year, have always been hits. Best examples are films like ‘Zenda’, ‘ Natarang’, ‘Shala’, ‘Balak Palak’, ‘Time Pass’ & ‘Classmates’.  Now, director Sanjay Jadhav is also getting ready to release his film ‘Guru’, which is presented by Eros International , during January 2016. So, after Diwali Dhamaka, we hope to see  new year bash too, with ‘Guru‘ declaring  its release during January 2016.

For the year 2015 , Sanjay Jadhav didn’t have a good time, as both his films ‘Pyaarwali Love Story’ and ‘Tu Hi Re’ not achieving expected success. So, for Sanjay, it is very necessary to begin the new year with a bang, as he has two more big projects, to handle during 2016. Luckily, for ‘Guru’ he has his ‘Duniyadari’ lucky star Ankush Choudhary, who is presently in great form, with two successive hits, in the form of ‘Double Seat’ and ‘Dagadi Chawl’. Ankush too wants to make it a hat trick with this film, as a successful solo hero. By the way, ‘Guru’ stars Ankush along with Urmila Kanetkar.

निर्मोही क्रिएशंस प्रस्तुत, माणूस लिखित, पंकज मिठभाकरे दिग्दर्शित कवडसा हे प्रायोगिक मराठी नाटक रंगभुमीवर अवतरतंय. परक्या, लांबच्या माणसांच्या बाबतीत संशय पिशाच्च मानगुटीवर बसलं तर जोर लावून काढता येतं, आपल्या जवळच्या माणसांविषयी संशय मनात फेर धरायला लागला की मग जे होतं ते आपल्याला कवडसा या नाटकात बघायला मिळते.

संशयग्रस्तता मुख्यतः प्रेमीजनात मोठया प्रमाणावर दिसून येते, सर्वात जवळचं सगळं भावविश्व व्यापलेल्या नात्यात किंचितसा सुद्धा दुरावा मनाला सहन होत नाही, आमचं दोघांच जे घट्ट भावविश्व आहे ते फक्त दोघांचच आहे, होतं आणि राहील असा विश्वास प्रेमीजनाच्या मनात निर्माण होतो, दोन घट्ट मैत्रीणींमध्ये देखील एक मैत्रीण जरा इतर मुलींमध्ये मिसळायला लागली की दुस‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍ दुसर्या मैत्रीणीला त्रास होतो, जेव्हा आणखी कुणाबरोबर तरी असाच एकजिन्सीपणा पार्टनर ने अनुभवलाय किंवा अनुभवतोय हे कळतं तेव्हा मग संशयाला सुरुवात होते.

प्रवीण चौगुले, किशोरी पाठक, प्रसाद कुलकर्णी आणि अमोल पाठक अभिनीत या नाटकाला दिग्दर्शकाने दिलेल्या मानसशास्त्रीय सादरीकरणामुळे ते अधिक प्रभावी झाले आहे. प्रकाशयोजना संतोष लोखंडे ह्यांनी केली आहे तर संगीत निखिल लांजेकर, वेशभूषा मेघना मिठभाकरे,  रंगभूषा- पंकजा पेशवे आणि नेपथ्य प्रवीण चौगुले ह्यांचे आहे.

निर्मात्यांच्या मते, प्रेक्षकांनी या नाटकातून स्वतःकडे, आपल्या मानसिक प्रश्नांकडे आणि मानसिक आजारी व्यक्तींच्या प्रवासाकडे जाणीवपूर्वक पहावे हाच नाटकाचा मुख्य उद्देश.

मराठीत एक म्हण आहे, ‘करावे तसे भरावे’. या म्हणीच्या आधारे आतापर्यंत बॉंलीवूडचे बरेच चित्रपट येऊन गेले. एक असहाय स्त्री आपल्यावर झालेल्या अन्यायाविरुद्ध काय करू शकते, हेही आपण बऱ्याच हिंदी आणि मराठी चित्रपटात पहिले आहे. त्यामुळे नुकताच प्रदर्शित झालेला विजन आर्ट्स ‘नजर ‘ हा मराठी चित्रपट वेगळे असे काही सांगत नाही.

औरन्गाबाद शहरापासून दूर असलेले एक गाव, जेथे हॉटेल किंवा खानावळीची काही व्यवस्था नाही, अश्या ठिकाणी, एका देखण्या तरुणाची पुष्कर (स्वप्नील राजशेखर) तलाठी म्हणून नियुक्ती होते. गावातील एक सुंदर दिसणारी पण अंध तरुणी फुलवा (तेजा देवकर) जी तिच्या वडिलांसोबत ( अरुण नलावडे) रहाते, ती त्याच्या घरी जावून दोन वेळचा स्वयंपाक करून देते. सुरुवातीस जंटलमन वाटणारा हा तरुण, फुलवाला लग्नाचे आमिष दाखवून तिच्याकडून शरीरसुख घेतो. सुरुवातीस त्याच्या घरात, तर नंतर शेतात हे प्रकार सुरु असतात. एक दिवस पुष्कर आपण घरी जावून आई वडिलांची लग्नासाठी परवानगी घेऊन येतो असे सांगून निघून जातो. आणि पुन्हा येत नाही. फुलवा चे वडील त्याचा शहरात जावून शोध घेतात.पण पुष्कर त्यांचा अपमान करून परत पाठवतो. प्रथम जीव देण्यासाठी निघालेली फुलवा, वडिलांच्या आणि गावकर्यांच्या सांगण्यानुसार विचार करून, सूड घ्यायचा ठरविते. आणि मग सुरु होतो तिचा शहराकाडचा प्रवास.

हे वेगळे सांगावयास नको, की फुलवा चे डोळ्यांचे ऑंपरेशन होऊन तिला दृष्टी मिळते. विशेष म्हणजे, जो डॉंक्टर तिच्यावर इलाज करतो, तोच डॉंक्टर, आपला कामधंदा सोडून, फुलवा चा मेक ओवर करून देण्यास मदत करतो. हे सर्व फिल्मी पद्धतीने चित्रपटाच्या पूर्वार्धात घडते, अगदी एखाद्या बॉंलीवूड चित्रपटाच्या स्टांयीलने. आणि मग, फुलवा पुष्कर ला धडा शिकवते. असा हा एक फोर्मुला चित्रपट पूर्वार्धात खूपच साधारण वाटतो. मात्र उत्तरार्धात हिंदी चित्रपटाच्या स्टांयीलने पुढे सरकतो. मात्र, या चित्रपटाचा शेवट, ‘करावे तसे भरावे’ नियमाप्रमाणे, पुष्करला धडा शिकविण्याचा नियतीचाच एक डाव आहे.

चित्रपटात स्वप्नील आणि तेजा यांनी आपापले अभिनय चोख वटवले आहेत. त्यांना अरुण नलावडे, रवी पटवर्धन, इ. कलाकारांची साथ मिळाली आहे. पण एकूण दिग्दर्शक गोरख जोगदंडे यांनी चित्रपट नाटकी पद्धतीने साकारला आहे. एका सुंदर पण अंध मुलीला तिचा बाप गावात नवीन आलेल्या आणि एकट्या राहणाऱ्या  माणसाकडे दिवस-रात्र स्वयंपाक करण्यासाठी कसा पाठवतो ? जो डॉंक्टर फुलवा चे डोळ्यांचे ऑंपरेशन करतो, तोच तिचा संपूर्ण कायापालट करून देतो, हे पटत नाही. अश्या चित्रपटातील बऱ्याच घडामोडी, नाटकी पद्धतीने मांडल्या आहेत. बऱ्यापैकी पार्श्वसंगीत आणि चांगली फोटोग्राफी याच चित्रपटाच्या जमेच्या बाजू आहेत.  त्यामुळे, एक साधारण चित्रपट म्हणून ‘नजर ‘ कडे पहावे.

Vijay Pagare, Nirmiti Sawant, Sheetal Phatak, Nayan Jadhav at music launch event

From ‘Bindhaast’ to ‘Gangunbai Non Matric’ ( The film) versatile actress Nirmiti Sawant has presented variety of characters, entertaining the Marathi film audience, for the past 16 years through her 16 films. Now, her forthcoming Marathi film ‘Bai Go Bai’ is all set to release on 4^th December 2015.  Recently, the music release of this film, was held in Mumbai, in presence of  team members and invitees.

Produced by Pradeep Patil & Naresh Thakur , the film is directed by Vijay Pagare, who is making his debut as a director through this film. Earlier, he had assisted Kedar Shinde in his two projects. Film’s music is by Vijay Gatlewar.  Incidentally, Vijay Gatlewar was the winner of 2006 TV reality show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’ as a singer. While speaking on the occasion, Nirmiti Sawant expressed satisfaction of doing this film and hoped that the film will be appreciated by the Marathi film audience.

Besides Nirmiti Sawant, the other artistes of this film are, Vijay Patkar, Nayan Jadhav, Shashikant Kerkar, Sheetal Phatak, Jaywant Bhalekar and others.

‘Anakalniya’ Marathi Serial

In spite of competition faced from private channels, Doordarshan Sahyadri channel is trying to make its presence felt, among section of people, living in some cities and rural areas of Maharashtra. Till now, Doordarshan had not tapped the prime time slots for their serials, during the past several years. But, now they are all set to introduce nine new serials, on different subjects and with well known artistes, during the prime time 8pm to 10 pm.daily.

Among the new serials, prominent among them will be ‘Maati Kokanchi Naati Janmachi’ which is targeted at youngsters from Konkan. Then, there are other social issues presented through story based serials  like ‘Pashanpati’ and  period serial ‘Sushilecha Dev’ based on the novel of Waman Malhar Joshi. There will be family serials like  ‘Vachanbaddh’, ‘Goshta Umaltya Manachi’ and ‘Sangarsh Milanacha’ to inspire the women. To entertain the children, there will be an interesting serial like ‘Bunty Television.

We also understand that actress Aishwarya Narkar will also be presenting  series of stories through her new serial ‘Chitrakathi’,  based on the literature of well known writers, under the banner of her new production company ‘Aishwarya Arts’. For those, who love to watch detective serials, DD Sahyadri  will be presenting interesting murder mysteries, detected through  their serial ‘Anakalniya’. Now, it will be interesting to see, how these serials will compete with other ongoing Marathi serials on private channels ? But, one thing is sure, that DD Sahyadri is  ready for it, as the subjects they have picked up,  are very interesting  .

Now, talking about the new arrivals on private channels, there was big hope from Bharat Jadhav show on Colors channel. But, their initial episodes were not very appealing. They need to focus more on good scripting.

In ‘Majhe Pati Soubhagyavati’ there was a lot of time wasted in preparing Vaibhav Mangale in the make up of an actress, for the photo shoot. The scene, in which Vaibhav hesitating to be free, in presence of actor Ashok Shinde , for the photo shoot, wasn’t very convincing. Being a professional actor, there was no need to show him feeling shy, in front of another  male actor. One could understand his awkwardness in presence of the hair dresser, but not the male lead actor. Moreover, it is observed that the exchange of dialogues between Ramesh Bhatkar and Ashok Shinde, are repeated several times, with the same expressions given by both.

What was interesting to watch during the week, was the gripping story split in three episodes, in ‘Asmita’ on Zee Marathi. But, showing the parallel investigation carried out by ‘Asmita’ to prove her ‘father in law guilty’ in the murder of her father, only diverted the interest from the ongoing case of fake Income tax Officers.

The presence of popular actress Sonali Bendre,  as a chief guest for the muhurat of new Marathi film ‘Kaul Manacha’, added a special flavour. She was all praise for Makeup man turned producer Rajesh Patil, who is making this film. Besides Sonali, the president of Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal Mr. Vijay Patkar was also present as a special guest for the occasion. Also present were artistes and technical team members of the film.

The film presents director Bhimrao Mude, who is independently directing his debut film. The film’s story is written by Bhimrao himself, along with Shweta Pendse. Rohan-Rohan will be composing the music of this film, with Nitin Ghag to handle cinematography. Big news about this film is that Beauty queen Amruta Patki, will be making her comeback into Marathi films, after making her debut in ‘Satya Savitri Aani Satyavan’, few years ago. She is playing the lead role in this film , along with Rajesh Shringarpure, Sameer Dharmadhikari, Vijay Gokhale, Vijay Chavhan, Jaywant Wadkar, kamlesh Sawant, Shweta Pendse, Maushumi Tondwalkar, Varsha Dandale  and many child artistes.

Shaali Marathi Movie

Known for presenting realistic stories, Marathi films have gone worldwide . In the past, many Marathi film makers have used real life characters from their respective profession, to give a realistic look  to their film. Now, director Atul Satam will be presenting famous Eye Surgeon Dr. Tatyarao Lahane , through his forthcoming Marathi film ‘Shalee’ , which is based on  ‘Shari’ , the story  written by late Shankar Patil. Along with Dr. Tatyarao Lahane, Alka Kubal Athalye will also be seen in special appearance.

‘Shali’ which is due for release on 27^th November 2015, has been shot at picturesque Konkan locations, displaying the traditional culture and rituals of the local place. The film stars Chetana Bhatt, Vijay Gokhale, Sanjivani Jadhav, Digambar Naik, Jaywant Wadkar, Shivkanta Sutar, Ganesh mane, Abhay Khadapkar , child artiste Sahil Gaokar in lead roles, along with some local artistes. Surendra Singh is the cinematographer of this film.

Sachin Pilgaonkar, Shankar Mahadevan in Marathi Film ‘Katyar Kaljat Ghusali’

The first day of Diwali morning plays a very important for Maharashtrian families.
