Abhijit Khandkekar Actor

Having established himself as a popular television actor, Abhijit Khandkekar is making his headway into Marathi films. Abhijit made his presence felt through his debut Marathi film ‘Jai Maharashtra Dhaba Bhatinda‘ in lead role. But, his next two films ‘Mamachya Gavala Jaoo Ya‘ and ‘Dhol Tashe‘ didn’t receive much success, in spite of his good performance. Abhijit who is presently playing lead role in ongoing Marathi serial ‘Majhya Navryachi Baiko‘, has three films due for release.

Out of these three films, two of them namely, ‘Dhyanimani‘ and ‘Bhay‘ present him in contrast characters. In ‘Dhyanimani‘, he plays a Psychologist, while in ‘Bhay‘ he plays a Schizophrenic. Recently, when we met him at the first look of ‘Dhyanimani‘, Abhijit Khandkekar seemed to be in a happy mood, as he shared the dais with all stalwarts like Mahesh Manjrekar, Chandrakant Kulkarni, Simita Thackeray and Medha Manjrekar. He thanked Mahesh Manjrekar and Chandrakant Kulkarni for choosing him to be part of their film and openly praised both, whom he treated on par with his father, as far as the learning process was concerned. “Working with Chandu Sir and Maheshji was like attending an acting workshop,” he said.

Every film maker wants his love story based film to release around Valentine’s day. On 24^th February 2017, Marathi film lovers will receive a special gift from the film ‘Premay Namha‘ , which will offer an Underwater song, which will be seen for the first time in Marathi films. The song titled ‘Jhalo Bebhaan Mee…‘ has been rendered by singers Shahjad and Pamela Jain on the music of K. Sandeep Kumar/ Chandrashekhar Janavade and has been picturised on lead pair Devendra Chougule and Rupali Krishnarao.

This was noticed during music release of ‘Premay Namha’ film, which took place in presence of chief guest Shreyas Talpade and the team members of this film. Speaking on this occasion, Shreyas Talpade was all praise for this song picturisation and appreciated the efforts of the technical team of this film. On the lines of Bollywood a video game has also been launched by the makers of this film, as part of promotion of this film. Produced by Uttam Chorade , directed by Jagadish Vatharkar the film’s cinematography is by Dhanaji Yamkar.

Video music album is not new to Marathi entertainment. But, to present many celebrities together in the same music video is something new. Richmond Entertainment who have entered the entertainment field with music album ‘Feelings’ have offered 12 celebrities comprising of popular singers and artistes together in this music album, on different themes like romance, separation, love, beauty, rains etc. This is a dream come true for lyricist and music director Kiran Khot, whose creativity has been presented  by Richmond Group’s Abhishek Vichare, through this music video album.

Well known Singers like Shreya Ghoshal, Swapnil Bandodkar, Bela Shende, Aadarsh Shinde have rendered the songs in through their melodious voice, while versatile actors like Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Jitendra Joshi,Avadhoot Gupte, Santosh Juvekar, Priya Bapat, Spruha Joshi and Sonalee Kulkarni have recited poetry  in their voices. There is a beautiful song picturised on young lovers played by Prajakta Mali and Bhooshan Pradhan, which is the highlight of this album.

On Tuesday late evening, this album was launched by chief guest evergreen Sachin Pilgaonkar, who brought liveliness into this event, which was delayed by two hours. Every actor or actress desire to perform a lifetime role in their acting career, be it on stage, television or films. And, very few of them get an opportunity to do so, in their second innings. Actor Amitabh Bachchan did find such opportunities through films like Cheeni Kam, Black, Paa, Piku & Pink. In Marathi, Nana Patekar found it in ‘Natasamarat‘. But, all are not lucky, especially the female artistes. But, Ashwini Bhave has found one such role in latest released Marathi film ‘Dhyanimani‘. She is the backbone of this film.

The film ‘Dhyanimani‘ revolves around her central character of Shalini Pathak a 40+ wife of Sadanand Pathak ( Mahesh Manjrekar) based in Roha on an job assignment. A newly married young couple Aparna ( Mrunmayee Deshpande) & Sameer ( Abhijeet Khandkekar) arrive in their house on a short vacation, as Pathak couple is close to Sameer’s father, a retired and highly respected school teacher( Madhav Abhyankar) .

Sadanand & Shalini welcome the young couple but soon the young couple notice some mystery in the strange behaviour of the couple. At the stroke of interval, the young couple and audience receive the first jolt and in the second half it is the uncovering of the mystery. ‘Dhyanimani‘ is based on the Marathi play by Prashant Dalvi which was staged in 90s. The play was directed by Chandrakant Kulkarni , who has now directed this film with the same name. Through this film, he has managed to present this mystery based screenplay of Prashant Dalvi well and has also skilfully exploited the best out of all four lead artistes well, but, he hasn’t taken much cinematic liberties through this film. Therefore, in many scenes the film has the look of a stage play, with more emphasis on long dialogues, especially those uttered by Ashwini Bhave.

Nevertheless, Ajith Reddy’s camera work, Paresh Manjrekar’s editing, Ajit Parab’s background music and Sandeep Mochemadkar’s sound design are plus points of this film. All in all,’Dhyanimani‘ film is not entertaining like typical Marathi films; but, does offer something different for those, who love to watch mystery based subjects with good performances.

Now days new Music companies are coming forward to launch music videos keeping in mind the likings of new generation. Pramod Waghmare is one of them. Recently, he launched his first Music Video under the banner of ‘Yuvati Music‘ at Mumbai’s Plaza cinema. This music video has a love song ‘Bavari Saad‘ which narrates a story of a young girl who is all set to proceed to foreign country for her higher education and her dilemma of separation from her boyfriend.

Popular singers Mangesh Borgaonkar and Kirti Killedar have rendered their voices for this song , which is penned by Shalaka Deshpande with music composition by Nitesh More. The music Video has been directed by Rishav Agarwal, while cinematography is by Mayur Baradhe.

The Press shows of Marathi films are generally held two or three days before the film’s release. If there is no press show, the critics are invited for premiere show of the film a day before the film’s release. However, the latest released Marathi film ‘Fugay‘ has set a new trend. The film’s press show was held on the first day of its release i.e. Friday at 12:00 noon, followed by grand star studded premiere show at 8:00 pm at a different venue.

As a result of this, many critics could not submit their reviews on ‘Fugay‘  film before the deadline. Incidentally, there was another film ‘Dhyanimani‘ releasing along with this film on Friday, which had held its press show on Wednesday. It seems, the makers of ‘Fugay‘ believed more on word of mouth publicity, rather than depending on the reviews by critics. Now, it remains to be seen, whether their strategy works in their favour.

प्रियांका चोप्राच्या पर्पल पेबल पिक्चर्स ह्या निर्मिती संस्थेची पहिली मराठी फिल्म ‘व्हेंटिलेटर‘ गेल्या वर्षी नोव्हेंबरमध्ये रिलीज झाली होती. डॉ.मधु चोप्रा निर्मित ह्या चित्रपटाला यंदाच्या पंधराव्या पुणे आंतरराष्ट्रीय चित्रपट महोत्सवात (PIFF) सर्वोत्कृष्ट पटकथेचा पुरस्कार मिळाला आहे.

‘व्हेंटिलेटर‘ सिनेमाचे दिग्दर्शक राजेश मापुस्कर ह्यांनीच ह्या सिनेमाच्या पटकथेवरही काम केलं होतं. ह्या कौटुंबिक मनोरंजक चित्रपटात मराठी सिने आणि नाट्यसृष्टीतल्या अनेक मान्यवरांनी काम केलं आहे. आशुतोष गोवारीकर आणि बमन इराणी ह्यांच्याही सिनेमात मुख्य भुमिका आहेत.

Smita Shewale and Milind Gawali, Marathi movie ‘Hakk‘

Popular Actor of social films Milind Gawali is back again. His first film for the year 2017 is releasing on 17^th February 2017 all over Maharashtra. Suitably titled ‘Hakk‘, this film is based on the lifestyle of Naxalites and their fight for their rights. Milind Gawali is playing the lead role in this film, shooting of which was shot around Aurangabad. Milind Gawali has spoken the Boli language in this film, which is spoken in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra.

The film is produced by Paltu Shrivastav and Ashok Shrivastav and directed by Gorakh Jogdande, who has done extensive research on the lives of naxalites, before making this film. The film ‘Hakk‘ has already received awards and appreciation at various film festivals. Smita Shewale plays the female lead role in this film along with other artistes like Dilip Wagh, Ashok Kulkarni, Pradeep Patwardhan, Ravi Patwardhan, Hari Kokre , Shobha Dange and others.

But, makers of ‘Premaay Namah’ have decided to release their love story on 24^th February 2017. Director of the film Jagadish Vatharkar has tried to give a different look to this love story, by picturising an underwater romantic song on lead pair Devendra Chougule and Rupali Krishnarao, which according to him is USP of this film.

Producer of the film Uttam Chorade has also started the promotion of this film in a big way, by launching a video game on Play store,  on the lines of some big budget Hindi films. Along with the lead pair, the film also stars Surekha Kudchi, Prachi Lalge,Prakash Dhotre, Bharat Daini, Saili Magdum and   Snehalraj.

Veteran Actor Ramesh Bhatkar

Having earned name and fame on television during late 80s, Ramesh Bhatkar became an actor in demand during early 90s, with more and more assignments coming from Marathi and Hindi films. He has also played lead role in detective Hindi serial ‘Commander’. But, Ramesh has always found himself comfortable with Marathi films and serials. Now, only difference is that he plays elderly characters. Yet, he invites all the attention with his style of delivering the dialogues.

When MarathiMovieWorld.com met Ramesh recently, we did ask him about his new assignments; and he quickly said that a PRO from Bollywood had approached him with few roles. “For a long time, I haven’t done any Hindi films. Moreover, I don’t exactly know, what will be my role in these films.   And, still the dates are not finalized.   On the other hand,  makers of Marathi films and serials very well know, which character will suit me and accordingly they come with their offers.” said Ramesh.

Ramesh has recently done a commercial for a Jewelers’ brand. “This ad film also came to me from a Bollywood PRO. The makers approached me, stating that the scene I was required to perform was in Marathi and filled with lots of emotions. I agreed. And, when they shot this film, they were highly impressed.” he said.

Savaniee Ravindrra, a very talented Marathi singer, who was a ‘Idea SA RE GA MA PA‘ TV show finalist in the year 2011 , has shown considerable progress as a singer in films and television. Daughter of Dr. Ravindra Ghangurde and Dr. Vandana Ghangurde who are both singers, Savaniee Ravindrra did her schooling from Fergusson College, Pune. She has a strong classical background. Trained in Classical Vocals by Pandit Pandharinath Kolhapure, she was also trained in ghazal by Ravi Date.

Speaking about her latest achievement, Savaniee Ravindrra says, ” Composer Sanjay Ravi did listen to one of my cover songs ‘Confluence of Indian Music’, he connected with me through Facebook & a friend Abhay who is the co-singer for the same song. He asked me to sing a tamil song for him and it was like a dream come true. So, without a second thought I flew down to Chennai and recorded my first Tamil song.”

This song has been penned by Bala, Composed by Sanjay Ravi, beautifully sung by Savaniee Ravindrra & Keshav. The video is created by The Studio, and the song is being appreciated by many stalwarts like composer Ghibran, Hariharan jee & others.
