After Akshay Kumar, Ajay Deogan, Priyanka Chopra, now it’s turn of John Abraham to associate with Marathi film industry. John Abraham made announcement recently about his debut Marathi film ‘Savita Damodar Paranjpe‘ as a producer . The film has gone on the floors under the banner of his JA Entertainment and will star Subodh Bhave, Trupti Toradmal and Raqesh Bapat.

Incidentally, John has been a big fan of some of the Marathi films with a good story and his favourite Marathi film was ‘Dombivali Fast‘ as revealed by his mother, when MMW met her last time during the premiere of a Marathi film. Directed by Swapna Waghmare Joshi (‘Mitwa’ & ‘Fugay’ fame), ‘Savita Damodar Paranjpe‘ is an adaptation of the famous Marathi play, ‘Savita Damodar Paranjpe‘. So, it will be interesting to watch how skillfully Swapna Waghmare presents the cinematic version of this famous play.

Zee Yuva channel offering entertainment with a difference, with variety of serials like ‘Bun Maska’, ‘Freshers’, ‘Love lagna Locha’, ‘Ithech Taka Tambu’,’ Shravanbal’, ‘Yuvagiri’, ‘Shaurya’ and latest programmes like ‘Prem He’ and’Sargam’. Now, Zee Yuva have now offered their new serial ‘Fulpakharu’ and the promo of this serial has become popular on social networking sites among youngsters. The ongoing IPL Cricket has forced many Marathi film makers to postpone their film’s releases. And, one of them is director Manoj Kotian, who has found the month of May as most suitable time for the release of his film ‘Karaar‘. It may be recalled that music of this film was released end of last year, when it was announced that ‘Karaar‘ film would be released early 2017. But, for some reason or the other, the film’s release was postponed.

Now, producers Bipin Shah and Gautam Munot have announced the release of ‘Karaar‘ film as 26^th May, 2017, which is the summer vacation time. The film stars Subodh Bhave, Urmila Kanitkar Kothare and Kranti Redkar in lead roles. The film’s music is by Vijay Gavande and Paresh Shah, with lyrics by Guru Thakur and Mangesh Kangane. Reputed singers like Avadhoot Gupte, Shreya Ghoshal, Bela Shende, Sonu Kakkar, Jasraj Joshi, Neha Rajpal and Vaishali Samant have rendered their voices for the songs in ‘Karaar‘ film.

Maharashtra is a land of brave soldiers, who have fought for India’s freedom. Therefore, all parents feel that their child should be another Shivaji. Satara district in Maharashtra is known for offering brave soldiers to Indian Army. One such village in Satara district is Chandavadi village. Set on the backdrop of this village is the story of new serial ‘Lagira Jhala Ji’, which will be aired on Zee Marathi channel from Monday 1^st May 2017.

The lead hero of this serial Ajinkya has been brought up by his maternal uncle and aunty, after the sad demise of his parents during his childhood days. Ajinkya’s only ambition is to join Indian Army and serve his nation. But, his uncle and aunty are against his wish, as they want Ajinkya to live with them and marry their daughter Jayashree. But, there comes another girl Sheetal in his life from the same village. Initially, they don’t get along well with each other. But, they soon fall in love with each other. This serial presents the story of their love.

Milind Shinde Director

Known for his memorable performances on stage, television and Marathi films, Milind Shinde has established himself as a versatile actor. Now, he will directing an untitled Marathi film on the subject of sports, with rural backdrop. Produced by Radhe Mohan Pictures and scripted by Kiran Berad, the shooting of this film is presently going on at Shirdi. Prior to this, Milind Shinde has tried his hands as a director for Two Marathi films, namely ‘Nach Tujha Lagin Haai‘ and ‘Bhidu‘. But, both the films have not been released so far. ‘Bhidu‘ will be released soon, while ‘Nach Tujha Lagin Haai‘ is battling its fight with censor Board.

Milind’s new film is having ‘Out of the Box’ subject, presenting the story of a young active sportsman who has been denied Shiv Chhatrapati award. He goes back to his village, only to pick up three children involved in thefts and trains them in sports to enable them to reach national level. The film stars Bhushan Pradhan, Sanskruti Balgude, Uday Tikekar, Abhijit Chavan, Nayan Jadhav and Prakash Dhotre in lead roles. Mangesh Dhakde is the music director of this film, while the camera is handled by Pratap Nair.

Vikram Gokhale in Marathi movie ‘Dev Devharyat Nahi‘

Vikram Gokhale and Suhasini Mulay are both renowned Marathi artistes, who also established themselves as versatile artistes in Hindi film industry. Now, after a long time this matchless pair will be working together in forthcoming Marathi film ‘Dev Devharyat Nahi‘ , which is all set to release on 2^nd June 2017. Produced by Tony Dsouza, Amul Vikas Menon and Nitin Upadhyay, this film promises a unique story, which is directed by Pravin Birje.

Presented by Oddball Motion Pictures, ‘Dev Devharyat Nahi‘ is based on a true story and it remains to be seen on which incidence this film presents its script. Apart from Vikram Gokhale and Suhasini Mulay, actress Reena Agarwal also plays lead role in ‘Dev Devharyat Nahi‘ film. Shooting of this film is presently going on.

Sankarshan Karhade, Aishwarya Tupe in Marathi Movie ‘Khopa’

We often notice reflection of happenings in our society on big screen. At the same time, we notice reflection of human relationship in the film’s content. Till now, many film makers have tried to present their point of view on this subject. The forthcoming Marathi film ‘Khopa’ also presents one such theme based on human relationship, which will be revealed on screen on 26th May 2017.

‘Khopa’ is produced by Jalinder Bhujbal under the banner of Mahaganapati Films and is directed by Dr.Sudhir Nikam, who is making his debut as a director, after getting experience as a scriptwriter . The story of this film revolves around a small boy and his relationship with people around him. The film stars Sankarshan Karhade and Aishwarya Tupe in lead role along with Yatin karyekar, Rooplaxmi Chougule, Bharat Ganeshpure, Asha Tare, Ketan pawar and Vikram Gokhale. Other artistes in supporting cast are, Siddheshwar Zadbuke, Vinod Khedekar, Jalinder Bhujbal, Prashant Tapasvi, Deepa Gaikwad, Rishikesh Bam and others. Sameer Bhaskar is the cinematographer of the film while music is by A.V. Prafulchandra.
